Respiratory Therapy Department
The Respiratory Therapy Department is a 24/ 7 inpatient service for all areas of Tulane Medical Center. The Respiratory Therapy Department is staffed with credentialed and licensed Respiratory Care Practitioners. The therapists are certified in basic life support, advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support. The department is accredited by JCAHO and the Arterial Blood Gas Lab is certified by the College of American Pathologists.
The Respiratory Therapy Department provides the following types of therapy:
- Administration of medical gases
- Delivery of respiratory medications
- Mechanical ventilator management
- Artificial airway management
- Arterial blood sampling
- Asthma therapy and teaching
- Noninvasive ventilation (CPAP/BiPAP)
